Detroit International Jazz Festival 2007

This past weekend was the DJIF in downtown Detroit, along the Woodward corridor anchored by Campus Martius and Hart Plaza.  I came down Friday, Saturday and Sunday and was able to hear some really phenomenal acts like Herbie Hancock, Medeski, Martin, & Wood with John Scofield, Patti Austin, and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra.  The whole festival was put together really well, and I was really pleased to see how packed it was.  Tons of people were downtown all three nights, well past when my group would leave.

Saturday was particularly fun.  Had a good little group of people and went to Greektown  for some late-night post-festival food at New Parthenon.  That place has some fantastic food, let me tell you.  I always love going there…

I spent my day off mostly reading, to be honest.  After the busy weekend it was really good just to take it easy and not think about anything. Oddly enough this week hasn’t felt much shorter though.  In fact Tuesday and Wednesday were so busy that I honestly thought about wishing I hadn’t taken Monday off.
